NCCER Introduces Certification Programs for Signal Person and Riggers

The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) has released a certification program for signal person and a three-level certification program for riggers (basic, intermediate, and advanced).

These certification programs include written assessments and practical examinations that meet or exceed current ASME consensus safety standards and OSHA 29 CFR part 1926 subpart CC.

NCCER Rigger and Signal Person Practical Examiner

In order to offer these programs, NCCER Accredited Assessment Centers must successfully complete the application process and become endorsed.

Once endorsed this program can be administered by qualified industry professionals at an NCCER Accredited Assessment Center. This gives the assessment center the advantage of scheduling tests as their equipment and personnel are available and time permits. Test results are available in computer-based and paper/pencil format with results accessible within 15 minutes of submission without any rush fees. NCCER certified riggers and certified signal persons earn portable, industry-recognized credentials that are verifiable in real-time through NCCER’s Automated National Registry (ANR).
