Turner Construction Company, the nation's leading general builder, has been awarded $335 million of construction contracts in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Jersey.
Turner has been selected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to construct the Phase 2, $140 million expansion of the Biometric Technology Center (BTC), Office Building and Central Utilities Plant (CUP) in Clarksburg W.V. The scope of work includes the construction of a 400,000 sq. ft. office building and a 20,000 sq. ft. Central Utility Plant. The project is being designed and constructed to achieve a LEED certification from the United States Green Building Council. Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLC, with whom Turner has a long-partnership of successfully completing many major projects, is serving as the designer for the project.
Turner is providing construction management services for a $100 million commercial office building being developed by Rockefeller Group Development Corporation in Florham, N.J. The building is the first development on The Green at Florham Park office campus and will serve as the North American headquarters of BASF, the world's leading chemical company. Upon completion in 2012, the 325,000 square foot project will seek a LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Green features of the project include the use of sunscreens and low-E glass to reduce glare, natural filtering and recharge of storm-water, installation of air filtration system to improve indoor air quality and energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems and the preservation of trees on the site to create a walk-able, landscaped environment for future employees of the planned office park.
Lathrop, a subsidiary of Turner Construction Company, is managing a $53 million design-build contract by Capstone Development to construct a privatized student housing complex on the campus of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. The project's final beam was put in place on November 12th in a topping out ceremony and the student housing complex is scheduled for completion in August 2011. The project includes the design and construction of two housing complexes that will provide the University with 1,300 additional student beds. The South-Central residence will total 143,400 square feet and the Northwest residence will total 193,000 square feet.
Turner has also been selected to manage the $42 million renovation and expansion of the Louis J. Tullio Arena in Erie, Pa. for the Erie County Convention Center Authority. The project is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2012. The arena will expand from 152,000 sq. ft., to a total area of 218,000 sq. ft. The scope of work includes added seating, expanded concourses, administrative offices, a team store, training areas, mechanical rooms, food service preparation areas, concession and dining areas, luxury boxes, club seating and related public gathering areas.
