International Speedway Corporation (Nasdaq Global Select Market: ISCA; OTC Bulletin Board: ISCB) ("ISC") today announced that its corporate headquarter building, the International Motorsports Center, has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ("LEED") gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council ("USGBC").
The International Motorsports Center, the eight-story, 190,000 square-foot headquarters building directly across from Daytona International Speedway, was designed to carry on the great heritage of motorsports that is synonymous with the France Family and Daytona Beach. The International Motorsports Center, completed in October 2009, serves as the world headquarters for NASCAR, GRAND-AM Road Racing and International Speedway Corporation.
International Motorsports Center Receives LEED Gold Certification Award from the U.S. Green Building Council
"The International Motorsports Center is the cornerstone of ISC, NASCAR and GRAND-AM's commitment to a healthy environment," stated ISC Chief Executive Officer Lesa France Kennedy. "The decision to develop a 'Green' building is an investment in capital, environmental and human assets. Our headquarters building uses 20 percent less energy than a traditional office building of the same size. The windows, with their special coatings, transmit approximately 75 percent less heat compared to clear glass. In addition, the headquarters building is composed of materials with 24 percent recycled content as well as with materials that were produced or grown regionally. Lastly, an open work plan design brings exterior views to 90 percent of employee work spaces."
To earn LEED certification, the USGBC uses a points-based system for satisfying criteria meeting specific environmental impacts. The International Motorsports Center earned 43 points toward Gold Certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, air quality and innovation in design.
