Richmond-based design firm, H&A Architects & Engineers, was recognized by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) for its contribution to completion of four award-winning projects including the Best Overall, the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan.
In the Public Sector category (over $50M in construction), H&A earned the Design-Build Merit Award for the engineering design of Central Campus at TA-5 in Fort Lee, Virginia. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk is the owner of the project with Balfour Beatty Construction leading the design-build effort. The architect is HNTB Federal Group.

H&A won the Design-Build Excellence Award in the Public Sector category ($25M-$50M in construction) for its architecture design of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The City of Virginia Beach owns the project and Clancy & Theys Construction lead the design-build effort. Engineers on the project include MSA, PC; Stroud Pence and Associates; and PACE Collaborative P.C.
The Best Overall Project of the night at the DBIA awards banquet in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace was the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan. The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations is the owner of the project with B.L. Harbert International leading the design-build effort. H&A served as the engineers on the project with architects, PageSoutherlandPage (PSP). Khartoum also received a National Design-Build Award in the Public Sector category (over $50M).
