Sage North America, a provider of business management software and services to more than three million small and midsized businesses in Canada and the United States, today announced that Fatboy Construction, based in Steilacoom, Washington, has selected Sage Master Builder as its construction software solution.
Fatboy Construction converted to Sage Master Builder from a former QuickBooks accounting system.
Sage Master Builder is a construction-specific business management system that makes it easy to track and manage every aspect of a job, such as producing accurate estimates, managing vendors and subcontractors, monitoring cash flow and job costs, and tracking equipment and inventory.
"Due to the non-industry specific software system we were using, Fatboy Construction endured a grueling audit by the State Department of Revenue," said Mike Boyle, owner, Fatboy Construction. "I couldn't get the reports the auditors asked for, and there were no audit trails to validate transactions. I felt like I was hung out to dry."
Once Boyle implemented Sage Master Builder, he had a comprehensive estimating, job costing and accounting solution that could be relied on for accurate estimates analysis of each job's profitability, and tracking change orders. Sage Master Builder's powerful reporting tools helped Fatboy Construction to accurately track its expenses compared to its estimates, and gave Boyle visibility into each facet of his business.
"Even with the downturn in construction, it was an easy decision for me," says Boyle.
"I trust my numbers now and know precisely how each job is doing compared to my estimate. I know how much we have billed and how much remains to be billed. As a result, I can invoice more quickly and improve my cash flow."
Sage's construction and real estate products include Sage Timberline Office, Sage Timberline Enterprise, Sage Master Builder, and Sage Peachtree software that are industry-tailored to help companies optimize financial and operational performance. With over 35 years in the industry and more than 20,000 construction and real estate customers, Sage product lines have been recognized as the most widely used applications for construction estimating, job costing, accounting, payroll, and project management in the mid-market, according to the Construction Financial Management Association's (CFMA) 2010 Information Technology Survey for the Construction Industry.
