Turner to Provide Construction Management Services to Penn Park in Pennsylvania

Turner Construction Company, the nation's largest builder of sports and education facilities, has been selected to provide construction management services for the University of Pennsylvania to develop a 24-acre parcel of land to serve as a recreation space for students and residents and to connect the City of Philadelphia together with Penn's campus.

The project will be complete in time for the fall semester of 2011.

The $30 million Penn Park will include two artificial turf fields, one of which will be housed under an enclosure for all-weather use, a natural turf field, an artificial turf softball field, two volleyball courts and a 12-court tennis facility. All venues will include lighting for evening use. Penn Park will also include recreation spaces for general student use.

Penn Park is being designed and constructed to exceed the city's water management requirements, including storm-water and flood-water management.

"Turner first began its relationship with the University of Pennsylvania in 1922 with the construction of Franklin Field stadium. We are proud to continue this tradition with the creation of Penn Park for the benefit and enjoyment of the students and the City of Philadelphia," said Jeff Klinger, Vice President and General Manager of Turner's Philadelphia operations.
