The USGBC Orange County Chapter will present several seminars and events in August and September. “Surfing, Ocean Stewardship and Green Building” will occur on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Surfrider Foundation located at 942 Calle Negocio in San Clemente, California.
This inter-industry event will celebrate Southern California’s heritage and talk about surf, sustainable materials and protecting our oceans. Key participants include the Surfrider Foundation, Ecofficiency, ReRip, Marko Foam and Malama Composites. This event is open to anyone interested and the fee is $25.00 for USGBC OC Chapter members and $35.00 for non-members. Student member fees are $15.00.
The chapter will also sponsor “Pass the LEED BD+C Exam With Confidence: LEED Green Associate Exam Prep” on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 8:30 am. To 4:30 p.m. The workshop will focus on the key information necessary to pass the LEED AP BD+C exam. This event will take place at Waxie Sanitary Supply, 3220 South Fairview; Santa Ana, CA. The early registration fee for this educational program is $245.00 for USGBC members, $175.00 for student members and $345.00 for non-members prior to September 10, 2010. Fees after September 10 are $295.00 for members, $175.00 for student members and $345.00 for non-members.
An additional event in September will be the “Stonegate Elementary Open House and Campus Tour” at Stonegate Elementary School, 100 Honors, Irvine, CA. This event will occur on Monday, September 27 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This will feature the district’s solar energy initiative, integration of sustainability into the curriculum and the importance of educating students for a green future with keynote speaker and IUSD’s Curriculum Coordinator, Mark Santag. Students and parents of IUSD are free with Student ID. USGBC member fee is $20.00, non-members $35.00 and student members $10.00 for registration prior to August 27th. Prices increase by $5.00 each after August 27th.
