Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that Granite Construction Company has been awarded a $22 million contract by the Washington Department of Transportation to replace the Ebey Slough Bridge in Snohomish County.
Granite booked the project into backlog during the second quarter of 2010.
Scope of the project includes demolishing the current two-lane swing span steel truss bridge and replacing it with a wider steel girder bridge to allow boats to travel underneath without disrupting traffic.
The new bridge will contain four lanes and pedestrian paths. A temporary trestle will be in place during construction to help minimize the disruption to traffic.
The project is estimated to begin this month and will take approximately 32 months to complete.
