US Army Corps’ Omaha District Awards Fuel System Construction Project to Shaw

The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE: SHAW) today announced it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District for incidental design and construction of military fuel distribution systems and fuel storage complexes. Customers of the Corps’ Omaha District include the Defense Energy Support Center, U.S. Department of Defense agencies and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Shaw will conduct upgrades to sustain, modernize, repair and restore petroleum, oils and lubricants fuel facilities; upgrades to storage terminal fuel tanks up to and more than 500,000 gallons in size; aircraft hydrant system repair; tank rehabilitation and cleaning; and tank inspections and repairs. All work will be performed in compliance with standards under the American Petroleum Institute and the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as federal and state regulations.

As the third largest provider of fuels repair, maintenance and upgrades for the military under the North American Industry Classification System, Shaw is well-qualified to support the Omaha District’s customer base. Shaw provides a full spectrum of services and currently is only one of a handful of firms contracted to support the fuel needs of three major branches of the U.S. military—Navy, Air Force and Army.

“Shaw has supported the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District and its customers for more than 20 years in multiple areas, including military munitions response and environmental remediation,” said George Bevan, president of Shaw’s Environmental & Infrastructure Group. “Having completed more than $200 million in fuel system upgrade and construction projects, Shaw continues to enhance our services to the district with experience and capabilities in total fuels system support.”

Shaw is one of four firms selected to compete on task orders for a maximum total contract value of $324 million, if all options are exercised. Approximately $60 million will be included in Shaw’s Environmental & Infrastructure segment’s backlog of unfilled orders in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2010.
