Heath Construction has been selected to build the largest King Soopers store in Fort Collins. The project is the latest to capitalize on Heath’s experience building large retail stores, including the Wal-Mart Supercenter at I-25 and Harmony Road east of Fort Collins.
Construction will begin this month on the 123,000-square-foot King Soopers grocery store. Located on the northeast corner of Willox Lane and North College Avenue, the store will anchor the 26-acre North College Market Place.
“This is Heath’s fourth contract with King Soopers within the last year,” said Randy DeMario, Heath president. “Heath has a strong record of constructing, expanding and remodeling commercial buildings across the state, especially in the retail sector. We’re honored to team once again with King Soopers, especially on a project that will contribute so significantly to the redevelopment of North College Avenue.”
The North College Market Place, scheduled to open in early 2011, is an integral part of the City of Fort Collins’ North College Corridor Improvements Project. Goals of the North College redevelopment effort are to provide quality public infrastructure, bring new business to the area and improve overall aesthetics.
“Heath was selected because it’s a company that has the experience, qualifications and integrity to help improve Fort Collins’ northern corridor,” said Jeff McEnaney, King Soopers project engineer and manager. “North College Market Place will be the first major North College redevelopment project. We’re proud to be the grocery anchor for this important retail center.”
Within the past year, King Soopers has selected Heath for three additional projects. They include a multi-million dollar remodel and addition to the 30-year-old Fort Collins King Soopers store at Elizabeth Street and Taft Hill Road, and two substantial remodeling projects in Denver.
