King Soopers recently selected Heath Construction for a multi-million dollar addition and remodel of a King Soopers grocery store that has served Fort Collins residents for 30 years.
The work, which begins in late October at the King Soopers store on the corner of West Elizabeth Street and Taft Hill Road, will include a complete remodel of the existing 58,000-square-foot store and construction of a 10,000-square-foot addition on the building’s north side.
The store will remain open throughout construction, which is scheduled to be completed in June 2010.
“Heath has worked with many well-known big-box retailers throughout the region and completed a number of complex projects,” said Randy DeMario, Heath president. “We have the knowledge and expertise to complete any type of big-box work. Whether the project required constructing a 200,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter the size of four football fields in 10 months, or remodeling an existing store without disrupting shoppers, Heath met the challenge.”
For the King Soopers store in west Fort Collins, the Heath team will remodel and update the entire store interior, including the pharmacy and such specialty areas as the bakery, floral, deli, customer service and meat and seafood departments; create two new entrances; add a coffee shop; and update all lighting.
“We selected Heath because they completed our pre-qualification program and appear to be a great company to work with,” said Jeff McEnaney, project engineer and manager, King Soopers. “We expect they’ll do a great job for us.”
