SBS Energy Partners, LLC today announced a 15-year agreement with Seabrook Farms to install and maintain more than 21 acres of solar panel systems at its Seabrook, NJ facility. This location will hold approximately 27,000 panels, with each producing about 230 watts of electricity.
SBS Energy Partners is owned and operated by Energenic, a business venture between long-time business partners Marina Energy and DCO Energy. Seabrook Farms is a third generation family owned and operated business, specializing in vegetable growth and processing.
“We are eager to help Seabrook Farms create a more sustainable and reliable energy future,” said Frank DiCola, Energenic’s president and CEO. “This project will help to significantly reduce the facility’s energy costs.”
Seabrook Farms also expressed excitement for the project. “After looking at solar for two years, we believe Energenic is the right company to get the job done,” said Wes Seabrook, vice president of engineering. “We produce 90 million pounds of frozen vegetables and we are very excited about the cost savings this will produce.”
Once completed, this project will generate approximately 6.1 megawatts, or 8.4 million kilowatt hours of energy annually. To place that in perspective, this site would supply about 785 homes with electricity for a full year.
In addition, this project will lead to roughly $300,000 in annual savings for Seabrook Farms based on current electricity prices and enhanced savings if prices rise.
