Aircrete Building Solutions and their Advantages

Celcon aircrete blocks are available in a variety of grades and are produced in three face dimensions: 440 x 215 mm for normal blocks, 610 x 215 mm for the new Plus block range and 610 x 270 mm for the larger Jumbo Plus block. We are able to manufacture these blocks in a wide range of thicknesses from 100 mm up to 300 mm.

Standard and Hi-Strength Blocks

The Standard and Hi-Strength blocks are principally used in all types of wall constructions, above and below DPC with thicknesses up to 300mm, with Foundation blocks primarily used for solid wall constructions below DPC. The Solar blocks are principally used in inner skins of external cavity and solid walls, requiring enhanced thermal performance. Flooring blocks are for use as an infill within proprietary beam and block domestic flooring systems. As a general rule the higher the density, the greater the strength but the lower the thermal performance. Thus Solar blocks are the best insulants but have the lowest compressive strength.

AZoBuild - Building Technology- The complete building material

Overview of Products’ Applications

Below is an overview of the products' applications, which demonstrates why Celcon blocks are the complete building material:

Foundations

  • Very quick to build
  • No lean mix required
  • Wall ties not needed
  • A single wall built rather than 2 as required by a conventional masonry foundation
  • Resistant to sulphate attack
  • Does not rot or decay
  • Can accommodate attack from freeze-thaw cycle
  • Improves thermal insulation

Beam and Block Floors – Ground Floors

  • Very quick to build
  • Lightweight blocks easy to lay
  • FloorBlocks cover a wider area so are faster to install
  • Improves thermal insulation
  • Safe – lighter blocks for easy manual handling
  • Lighter loading on the beams means less wall loading and fewer beams are possible
  • Strong enough for most domestic applications (BBA approved)

Beam and Block Floors – Upper Floors

  • Excellent sound insulation within a house
  • Lightweight construction for lower loading on walls
  • The bigger FloorBlocks can reduce the amount of beams by as much as 25%
  • Handling -lighter loading on the beams means less wall loading and fewer beams are possible
  • Strong enough for most domestic applications (BBA approved)

Cavity Walls

  • Excellent thermal and acoustic insulation
  • Simple solutions to Part L, without the need to increase the cavity width over 100mm
  • Proven solutions to Part E for flanking and party walls
  • Impressive load bearing capabilities
  • Lightweight for fast building
  • Air-tight constructions can be achieved, even easier using Thin Joint
  • Thin Joint blockwork is even faster to build with

Solid Wall Construction

  • Very fast to install – build just one wall rather than two as with cavity wall construction
  • No need for walls ties
  • A very robust and sturdy construction

Party or Separating Walls

  • Excellent sound insulation
  • Lightweight for productivity and health and safety
  • Celcon blocks are non combustible

Partition Walls

  • Excellent sound insulation
  • Offers secure and reliable fixing
  • Celcon blocks are non-combustible so firewalls can be built
  • Can be built as either load or non load bearing walls
