Aircrete Blocks for Construction Applications

The Celcon range includes Standard, Solar, Hi-Strength (Hi-Seven and Hi-Tene blocks), Super Solar, Flooring and Foundation blocks. All Celcon blocks comply with BS6073 and are covered by British Board of Agrément (BBA) Certificates. All Celcon block factories are Quality Assured to BS EN ISO 9002 (previously BS 5750: Part 2) and have achieved ISO 140001 Environmental Management Standard certification covering all aspects of the company’s business that may affect the environment.

Celcon Standard and Hi-Strength Blocks

The Standard and Hi-Strength blocks are principally used in all types of wall construction above and below DPC with thicknesses up to 355mm, with all Foundation blocks being suitable to DS4. The Solar and Super Solar blocks are principally used in inner skins of external cavity and solid walls, requiring enhanced thermal performance. Flooring blocks are for use as an infill with proprietary beam and block domestic flooring systems.

Celcon Super Solar Blocks

As a general rule, the higher the density, the greater the strength with lower thermal performance. Super Solar blocks have, for example, the lowest compressive strength and density but are the best insulants.

Celcon Normal Blocks

Normal blocks have a V-key face, which both identifies the product and provides a suitable surface for finishing. Normal walling blocks have an actual face size of 440mm x 215mm.

Celcon Plus Blocks

Plus blocks have a plain face with a face size of 610 x 215mm or 610mm x 140mm (solid wall / foundation block) and are ideal for use with the Thin-joint system. Where the 215mm course height would mean the block weight would exceed the CONIAC limit of 20kg for repetitive lifting, a course height of 610mm x 140mm is available – particularly suitable for solid walls or foundations. They are identified by inkjet marking periodically throughout the pack.

Celcon Jumbo Blocks

Jumbo Plus blocks have a plain face with a face size of 610mm x 270mm and ideal for use with the Thin-joint system. They are identified by inkjet marking periodically through the pack.

Celcon Coursing Units

Coursing Units are available in Solar, Standard and Hi-Seven ranges with a face size of 215mm x 65mm. They are intended for matching courses to external brickwork but can also be used to close cavities at windows and door openings (see TSD/71).
