Dow Corning Corporation, a global leader in silicones and silicon-based technology and innovation, has recently introduced the Quality BondTM Program, the first of its kind in Asia, to provide an integrated service for architecture projects in Korea. The first two members, Hankuk Haniso and Beebong E&G have signed up the program with Dow Corning at the signing ceremony held in Seoul on March 18, 2010.
“Trends for high-rise buildings, various unique designs and energy efficiency maximization are emerging as a centerpiece of attention in the domestic architecture industry. These trends coincide with the country’s national strategy of driving for green growth. Under these circumstances, the clear standards for quality and quality control are more importantly dealt with. In particular, quality control for silicone structural glazing plays an essential role in securing the exterior structure safety of a building, while insulation glazing plays a significant role in maximizing energy efficiency. Both are emerging as a vital matter.” said Eric Mannaerts, Dow Corning Construction Asia Commercial Director, “ In response to these trends, Dow Corning has introduced the Quality BondTM Program aimed at establishing quality standards for the curtain wall silicone glazing in the domestic architecture industry. The launch of the program is based on Dow Corning’s more than 40-year technology and experience as well as the best-quality products in the field of the curtain wall silicone glazing across the world.”
Through the Quality BondTM program, Dow Corning provides an integrated service to architecture projects, aiming to secure the best curtain wall silicone glazing construction and quality control, while working together with the curtain wall businesses equipped with firm mindsets towards specialty, facilities, and quality control. Dow Corning provides Quality BondTM members with full-scale education and technology assistance based on the global quality standards related to the manufacturing of curtain wall silicone glazing and insulation glazing, and helps them maintain the reliable quality of curtain wall silicone glazing and construct it through consistent inspection.
This program as an integrated management system has already been introduced to Europe and is widely used in the continent. The Dubai Burj Khalifa Tower, the world’s highest building, which was completed in January, is also a famous building constructed under the Quality BondTM Program.
The Quality BondTM Program which is introduced to Asia for the first time by Dow Corning Korea is extremely meaningful, because it will serve as a momentum to increase the reliability of the high-rise buildings and landmark-type buildings in Korea now and in the future.
