Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it will provide engineering consultancy services to Transport Scotland, the national transport agency of Scotland, as the agency oversees the operation and improvement of the trunk road and railway networks in Scotland. Jacobs was one of five participants who concluded an agreement on all three of the frameworks for the initiative, which are being executed by Transport Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Ministers.
As part of the four-year frameworks, Jacobs will provide engineering services ranging from feasibility studies and environmental appraisals through to the procurement and supervision of the construction of projects on site. The frameworks will be used to assist Transport Scotland in the development of transport infrastructure projects, in particular those identified in their Strategic Transport Projects Review, which describes how Scotland's transport needs should be addressed over the next 20 years.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Bob Duff stated, "We have a well established working relationship with Transport Scotland, which the appointment to this framework will further strengthen. We look forward to continuing to provide value with a range of quality services that will contribute toward improving Scotland's strategic transport network."
Transport Scotland is an agency of the Scottish Government, accountable to Parliament and the public through the Scottish Ministers.
