Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that construction has officially started on the Interstate15 (I-15) South Design-Build Project for the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT).
Jacobs serves as the design manager for Las Vegas Paving Corporation, the local contractor for the project. This project includes widening the freeway, the addition of collector-distributor roads, five redesigned interchanges, 26 new bridge sections and 35 retaining walls. Additionally, 1.5 miles of sound walls will be built along six miles of I-15, from Tropicana Avenue to Silverado Ranch Boulevard in Clark County, Nev.
A groundbreaking ceremony held on February 17 marked the official start of construction on the $246.5 million project.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Robert M. Clement stated, "We are excited that construction is underway on this important project. We are pleased to be working with Las Vegas Paving on this program, which continues our long-term relationship with NDOT."
