The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE: SHAW) today announced it has been awarded a worldwide environmental restoration and construction contract by the U.S. Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment (AFCEE).
Headquartered at Brooks City-Base, Texas, AFCEE is a field operating agency of the Air Force Civil Engineer agency and provides Air Force leaders with comprehensive expertise to protect, preserve, restore, develop and sustain U.S. environmental and installation resources.
Shaw’s scope of work includes environmental remediation and construction, as well as restoration under the Air Force’s Military Munitions Response Program, which seeks to make response sites safe and clean for reasonably anticipated future use. Shaw supported AFCEE through a 2003 worldwide environmental restoration and construction contract, executing $253 million in delivery orders across the globe.
"Shaw has a 15-year history of supporting the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment in its mission to protect and restore environmental resources at Air Force sites and other federal installations worldwide," said George Bevan, president of Shaw's Environmental & Infrastructure Group. "Through our environmental remediation services, Shaw has applied proprietary technologies and pioneered solutions to solve some of AFCEE’s toughest challenges."
Shaw is one of multiple firms selected to compete on task orders with a potential maximum contract value among all selected firms of $3 billion, if all options are exercised, through 2014. The amount included in Shaw’s Environmental & Infrastructure segment’s first quarter fiscal year 2010 backlog was undisclosed.
