Solar Nation has announced the installation and commissioning of a 31kW solar-electric system on the Metallion Industries, Inc. headquarters and wholesale distribution center location in Estacada, Oregon. The family-owned business specializing in customized metal roofing and siding panels for residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings installed solar power to reduce and stabilize energy costs and to create a product display for its customer base.
The Metallion Industries installation includes 176 solar panels covering 2,416 square feet of preexisting roof space. This system will supply approximately 89 percent of the electrical energy needs for the 14,300-square-foot, 8-employee facility.
"We have been looking at how solar-electric systems could be mounted on our roofing products. Solar Nation was able to simplify the many complicated topics that relate to solar-electric systems in a timely, accurate, and exhaustive manner while tailoring the information to our distinctive needs. We, in turn, recognized that a system on our rooftop presented a unique opportunity to be good stewards of the environment while making our business more competitive in the future. From education about solar systems all the way through installation, Solar Nation was an incredibly capable and competent partner in helping us take advantage of that opportunity," said Nolan Bechtel, Owner of Metallion Industries, Inc.
As a result of its experience with the installation of its solar-electric system, Metallion Industries has announced that it will become a sales outlet for Solar Nation systems, providing a kiosk in its store with information about Solar Nation’s systems and services.
"The Metallion Industries project is mutually beneficial in every sense. Metallion Industries is able to generate 90% of its power on site, providing immediate savings, making it a stronger business and a stronger employer. The public benefits because power is generated locally, reducing pressure on transmission lines, while cutting carbon emissions and improving the environment," said Paul Hodge, CEO of Solar Nation.
It is estimated that over its 25-year warranted life, Metallion’s solar-energy system will keep 630 tons of CO2 from entering the environment. This is the equivalent of driving an automobile over 800,593 miles or the annual CO2 offset of over 25,139 trees.
