Casey F. Robb, CSI, CCPR, of Acworth, Ga., will become a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) in April.
Fellowship is among CSI’s most prestigious honors. CSI is a national association of specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, building material suppliers and other representatives involved with institutional and commercial building design and construction.
Although the organization has nearly 17,000 members, only 340 have ever been elevated to Fellowship in CSI’s 57-year history. Robb will be one of 15 new Fellows invested on April 22 during The 49th Annual CSI Show™ & Convention in Chicago. Fellows are nominated by their colleagues and selected by CSI’s Jury of Fellows in recognition of their accomplishments in advancing construction technology, improving construction specifications, educating people in the construction industry, or advancing the mission or goals of the Institute.
Robb has been in the construction industry for more than 20 years. He started with his father, Jack Robb, as a home builder in Princeton, Ind. He earned a bachelor’s degree of science in Construction Technology at Murray State University in 1978.
He then worked in construction contracting as a field engineer, estimator, and assistant project manager for several years with Owens Corning Fiberglass. In 1986 he joined CSI and became a member of the St. Louis Chapter. He also started his sales career with Thoro System Products, a then-prominent construction product manufacturer. Robb has been a commercial construction specialist in the southeastern U.S. since moving to Atlanta in 1993, where he joined CSI’s Atlanta Chapter. He has been responsible for technical sales and architectural promotion with various construction product manufacturers in this region during the past 13 years. Robb has served in numerous Atlanta Chapter committee positions, and was elected chapter president in 1999.
He currently serves as vice president of the Atlanta CSI Foundation, president of CSI’s Southeast Region, and is one of 20 Institute directors that sit on CSI’s national Board.
His accomplishments with CSI include:
- Investing much of his time and talent in improving and implementing technical training programs that have spread best practices among various organizations and fields throughout the construction industry.
- Developing guide specifications that demonstrate to clients the value of good specifications, and helping them understand how to produce these kinds of specifications themselves.
- Helping rebuild the Atlanta CSI Foundation scholarship program.
- The foundation now gives four $500 scholarships annually, and has a sound financial base, which will allow it to grow.
- Promoting education and CSI’s certification program, which has created a “new culture of learning in the Atlanta Chapter” according to his supporters.
