Harris Selects Jacobs Engineering to Provide EPCm Services for Maine Radio Network Program

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Harris Corporation's Public Safety and Professional Communications business to provide turnkey engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) services to implement the State of Maine's Statewide Radio Communication Network Program (MSCommNet).

The MSCommNet statewide digital radio system was designed to meet the communications needs of Maine's law enforcement, public safety, and public service first responders. The Project 25 (P25) VHF system will be fully compliant with Phase 1 of the federal P25 standard and will include 40 sites throughout Maine, providing mobile coverage across 95 percent of the state. The MSCommNet system will be based on Harris' VIDA Network, a cost-effective, Internet Protocol (IP)-based interoperable radio communications technology that supports and facilitates communications between new and legacy systems to provide seamless interoperability with other agencies, regardless of frequency band, radio brand or operating mode. MSCommNet will utilize significant portions of the State's existing communications infrastructure with a modern technical foundation that addresses current and future technical needs and business requirements.

Jacobs will perform site civil engineering, construction management, procurement and construction services of radio towers, equipment shelters and emergency power backup systems for the required infrastructure improvements. To support the power requirements at remote sites where commercial power is not available, Jacobs is providing a sustainable approach which includes the utilization of solar arrays and wind turbines.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Kevin McMahon stated, "We are delighted to partner with Harris Corporation and look forward to deploying the MSCommNet system for Maine's public safety and public service first responders."
