Professional Landcare Network Says Landscaping Adds 15 Percent to Property Value

As the real estate market continues to grow and raising property value becomes a priority, Americans are increasingly searching for landscape contractors. In fact, the Yellow Pages Association reports that the "Landscape Contractors" heading ranks 35th out of more than 4,000 headings, according to Knowledge Networks/SRI.

With residential and commercial landscaping combined, the $11 billion industry is growing 13 percent annually, states CRM Associates, so it's no surprise that the "Landscape Contractors" Yellow Pages heading is referenced 71.5 million times per year.

"Landscaping contributes to a home or businesses' character and marketability and can add up to 15 percent to property value," said Vicki Bendure, spokesperson for the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). "Americans can also find tips on landscape contracting and lawn care services at PLANET's Web site, www.lawncarenetwork.org, before and after referencing the Yellow Pages."

Proving the power of Yellow Pages in a buying decision, 88 percent of "Landscape Contractors" look-ups result in a purchase, surpassing the 79 percent average for all Yellow Pages headings. These figures lead to $27 of revenue and $7 in profit for every $1 spent on Yellow Pages advertising, according to research by CRM Associates. "Landscape contractors have historically relied on print and Internet Yellow Pages to help generate business because of the medium's high return on investment," said Larry Small, director of research for the YPA. "In fact, the average landscape contractor Yellow Pages display ad generates more than $248,000 in revenue, according to industry research."
