NCC Construction Sweden has received an order to build an underground parking garage in central Malmö. The client is Malmö Kommuns Parkerings AB and the assignment is worth SEK 185 million.
At Bagers Plats, adjacent to the City Tunnel station Malmö Central, NCC will build a two-storey underground parking structure with capacity for 420-460 cars. The garage will be accessible through two entrance buildings on Bagers Plats. On the ground floor, a new bicycle parking section will also be built for approximately 1,000 bicycles.
The project also includes building a new pedestrian bridge to link Bagers Plats with Börshuset. The refurbishment of the surrounding quay is also included in the project, as is the temporary relocation of a listed building, the harbor master’s residence, which will later be returned to its original position when the parking structure is completed. The work is scheduled to commence in December 2009 and be completed in December 2011. The project will employ about 40 skilled workers and 8 salaried employees.
The order will be registered in the fourth quarter of 2009.
