NCC Construction Sverige Wins SEK 232 Million Contract for Refurbishing Cisterns

NCC Construction Sverige has secured an assignment to improve and make portions of Vopak’s operations in Skarvikshamnen, Gothenburg, environmentally safe. The work includes refurbishing several cisterns for thick fuel oil. NCC will also cast a concrete foundation and construct walls around the cisterns. The client is Vopak Sweden AB and the order is valued at SEK 232 million.

NCC will upgrade and refurbish one of Vopak’s terminals. The work includes new bases and insulation for the nine existing cisterns as well as the replacement of power lines and pumps. A concrete foundation will be built on the land around the cisterns, and the terminal will be protected by concrete walls between two and four meters high. To further minimize the environmental impact, a new facility will be installed to cope with gas emissions from the tanks. NCC will also construct two new cisterns each comprising 20,000 cubic meters in volume. Vopak’s operations include storing, managing and distributing oils, chemicals and other liquid products. Work will commence in October 2009 and continue until January 2011. The project will employ a total of 95 persons, of whom 15 will be company employees and the remainder subcontractors.

Order registration will occur in the fourth quarter of 2009.
