Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today it has been awarded a contract by the GSA Mid-Atlantic Region to provide Construction Management Services for the Social Security Administration's New Mission Critical Data Center to be located within a 40 mile radius of the existing facility.
The Social Security Administration's National Computer Center (NCC) is one of the largest computer facilities among civilian Federal agencies. The project has received funding to accelerate the replacement of the outmoded NCC. The new National Support Center (NSC) is estimated at over $300 million and is part of an overall $500 million project.
Construction Management services encompass pre-award, procurement, design, construction and commissioning phase services including development of the Program of Requirements (POR), review of design/construction documents, construction schedule and budget management services, inspection, monitoring of testing, administrative support services and other services related to this project.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Tom McDuffie stated, "Jacobs is delighted to partner once again with the GSA Mid-Atlantic Region continuing our 20 year relationship by supporting them in the delivery of a facility that supports the Social Security Administration's core business goal to maintain the Mission Critical Data Center System availability to the public 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days a year (24/7/365)."
