Today Crimson Services announced that several of its properties in the Houston metropolitan area have received a 2009 ENERGY STAR, an honor presented by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for outstanding achievement in energy conservation.
Crimson Services has received four ENERGY STARS in The Woodlands, at Anadarko Tower, 1200 Timberloch Place, Town Center One, and Town Center Two. To earn an ENERGY STAR, a building must utilize at least 35 percent less energy per square foot than comparable facilities – a valuable achievement for commercial and industrial buildings, which are responsible for nearly half of all U.S. energy consumption according to the EPA.
“Energy efficiency is a priority we take very seriously, so we’re thrilled that the EPA has recognized the progress our facilities have made in that area,” said Executive Managing Director Don Thomas. “Houston has emerged as a real pacesetter in the ENERGY STAR program. We’re proud to be a part of that.”
The tallest building between downtown Houston and Dallas, the ultramodern Anadarko Tower is a discernable landmark in The Woodlands. It serves as the corporate headquarters for Anadarko Petroleum with 1200 Timberloch Place. Town Center One and Two account for over 280,000 square-feet of energy-efficient office space. This is the second consecutive year that all four properties have earned an ENERGY STAR.
As part of its ongoing commitment to first-class service and environmental stewardship, Crimson Services took the ENERGY STAR challenge in two other states this year. Seven buildings in Colorado and Florida also received the EPA’s prestigious distinction, bringing Crimson’s national total to eleven – the firm’s highest number to date.
According to EPA statistics, energy conservation efforts like Crimson’s have had a staggering impact. In 2008 alone, Americans saved enough energy to cut greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 29 million cars and $19 billion in utility bills.
