JBT Corporation (NYSE: JBT) today announced that its JBT AeroTech business was awarded a $7.3 million contract by Turner Construction Company, the General Contractor for San Francisco International Airport's (SFO) Terminal 2 renovation and expansion project. The contract includes the supply of 14 new Jetway® passenger boarding bridges and preconditioned air units to be installed at gates in Terminal 2.
San Francisco International Airport's Terminal 2 formerly housed international flights and was closed in December 2000 when SFO's current International Terminal opened. Turner Construction is the designer and builder of SFO's Terminal 2 project to renovate the facility into a state-of-the-art domestic terminal and accommodate SFO's growth in domestic passenger traffic and airline demand for gates.
"We are very pleased to expand our relationship with SFO and with Turner Construction, whom we have also partnered with on other airport terminal projects," said John Lee, Vice President and Division Manager, JBT AeroTech. "In 1959, San Francisco International Airport was one of the first airports ever to install passenger boarding bridges. It is exciting that throughout the past fifty years, JBT AeroTech's Jetway® gate systems have continued to be installed and supported at SFO terminals."
JBT AeroTech received the order in September 2009 and anticipates completing its portion of the project in the first half of 2010 prior to the terminal's completion in the first quarter of 2011.
