New Ownership's Global Expertise Fuels Growth
Hurd announces the opening of an office in Hong Kong, marking a new milestone in the brand's successful 15-year partnership with Asia wood window and door importers. The office provides Hurd with an Asia home base that centralizes and streamlines operations, marketing, sales and support needs.
"There is tremendous opportunity for the Hurd brand in Asia," stated Dominic Truniger, President of HWD Acquisition. "We already have a foothold in the region through existing distribution partners and an experienced sales team. Now we have an opportunity to take our business there to the next level by deepening our relationships with customers and potential suppliers." Recent industry reports indicate that China will soon surpass the United States in the next few years for window demand, citing their growing population, evolving consumer lifestyle preferences and dynamic economy.
Hurd's Asia office opened in July and is staffed by full-time local personnel who are assisting the company's Asia sales team. Truniger attributes this growth opportunity to Hurd's parent company, Longroad Asset Management, LLC. "We've been able to draw on our new ownership's global expertise and ties to local Hong Kong resources to open this location as our first-ever international sales center," began Truniger. "Thanks to this joint venture, we expect Hurd to experience even greater success abroad in the future and potentially open additional overseas offices."
Hurd sells its wood windows to customers in more than 20 countries including Canada, Mexico, China, Japan, Morocco, Israel, the Caribbean, and else where. In May, Wisconsin's Governor Jim Doyle honored Hurd with his Export Achievement Award in the Medium Manufacturer category for their extraordinary results in international sales. The company grew their 2008 international sales by more than 66 percent and according to Truniger they are poised for double-digit growth in 2009 again.
