EPA Presents ENERGY STAR Status to Crimson Services' Commercial Buildings

Today Crimson Services announced that several of its commercial buildings in Florida have received a 2009 ENERGY STAR, an honor presented by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for outstanding achievement in energy conservation.

Six Crimson Services buildings in the Fort Lauderdale area have received the prestigious distinction for environmental leadership: Cornerstone One and Two, AtlanTech Tower, Corporate Center III, International Place I, and Sawgrass Plaza. To earn an ENERGY STAR, a building must utilize at least 35 percent less energy per square foot than comparable structures – a conservation that yields an estimated $25,000 in savings per 50,000 square feet of office space.

“Energy efficiency is an economic and environmental priority we take very seriously, so we’re thrilled that the EPA has recognized the progress our facilities have made in that area,” said Executive Managing Director Don Thomas. “Sustainability is absolutely crucial to what we see as a first-class facility. We’re proud of our achievements in the Sunshine State this year.”

Three Crimson properties, Corporate Center III, International Place I, and Sawgrass Plaza, are the only ENERGY STAR buildings in Sunrise, Florida. They are situated in the largest master-planned corporate business park in Broward County, Sawgrass International Corporate Park.

The Cornerstone One and Two buildings are located on the Cornerstone Corporate Campus in Plantation, Florida, which has received a number of other recognitions for its amenities and continued excellence in management. The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) has named Cornerstone its Suburban Office Park of the Year for the second consecutive year. The 412,000 square-foot AtlanTech Tower, which boasts ocean views on the upper floors, is a three-time recipient of the BOMA Building of The Year Award.

Five Crimson Services buildings in Texas and Colorado have also received the EPA’s energy all-star award, bringing its national total to eleven – the firm’s largest number of ENERGY STARS to date.
