Bloomberg is the first company in Japan to earn the Gold honor from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, achieving LEED Gold Certification for Commercial Interiors for the Bloomberg office (19th floor) at 2-4-1 Marunouchi Chiyoda-Ku, Tokyo, Japan.
LEED has recognized the Bloomberg Tokyo office as having a high level of sustainable building qualities, making it the first and only holder of LEED Gold certification in Japan.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides standards for environmentally sustainable construction. The LEED Gold award recognizes Bloomberg's office design for energy saving, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
"We are honored to achieve LEED Gold certification for the Bloomberg Tokyo office," said Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg. "This accomplishment recognizes our commitment not only to our customers in Japan, but also to the local environment. Bloomberg's global sustainability initiative focuses on site maintenance, water usage, energy management, waste diversion, cleaning and indoor air quality. This initiative is implemented in Bloomberg offices around the world."
