The CNC Building at Sunseeker International in Poole, Dorset, has been constructed to house a new hull making facility. The steel clad roof, finished in Colorcoat Armacor in Goosewing Grey, was chosen by architects, Bryan Mansfield, for its long lasting performance and aesthetic appearance.

The company currently has seven shipyards and the need arose to increase the facilities, which are located at Mannings Heath, due to the expansion of the company. Colorcoat Armacor is a robust, multiplayer coating system with a thick film primer. This provides excellent corrosion protection for the R32/1000 roofing panels, five tonnes of which were required.
The coating provides excellent corrosion resistance and an attractive textured topcoat, providing strong scratch and abrasion resistance. It is supplied on hot-dip galvanised steel to EN10142 or EN10147 and the reverse side coating is a high performance backing coat, reinforcing its durability and strength.
It was essential that the steel cladding received the maximum amount of protection from the corrosive salt water within this marine environment and the formulation of the Colorcoat Armacor fulfilled these requirements. “The roof looks amazing from the air but it is a shame that the building is so high, 13 metres, as the full benefit of the roof cannot be realised from the ground,” says Hannah Braithwaite Smith from Sunseekers. “However, we are confident of the ability of the Colorcoat Armacor to protect the new building from the deterioration and corrosion commonly associated with the conditions.”
