- From 'stump to shelf,' Pella(R) supports environmental stewardship -
Pella Corporation has been awarded the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody (CoC) Certification, by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) - accredited by the FSC to certify companies to its international standards - further demonstrating the company's commitment to using resources responsibly.
"Pella's roots in environmental stewardship trace back to 1925, when the company was founded and launched its first recycling program," said Jim Nieboer, champion of Pella's environmental efforts. "Now with the widely-recognized FSC CoC certification, we can offer Pella® customers the option of windows and doors made from pine certified to have been harvested from well-managed forests."
FSC standards
The FSC awards CoC certification to companies that meet FSC standards for tracking wood used in their products from the certified forest to the consumer. Steps of the production process - including harvesting, processing, manufacturing and distribution - must be independently verified for adherence to FSC standards. Only products from FSC CoC companies claim the FSC designation - assurance of a socially and environmentally responsible purchasing decision.
Offering FSC CoC certified products is one of many ways Pella's windows and doors can help contribute toward earning points in the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System.
Pella Corporation's FSC certification number is SCS-COC-002711.
