Ensuring the Highest Sustainable Performance Analysis is Available on GSA BIM Projects
Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), a provider of integrated performance analysis consulting services and software for sustainable building design, today announced its participation with Applied Software to provide the General Services Administration (GSA) with Building Information Modeling (BIM) Services. IES brings a key sustainable design element to BIM – environmental and energy performance analysis, which is ideally suited for greening new GSA-related projects.
Under this new contract, IES along with other BIM experts will work on a team led by Applied Software to provide professional services and expertise for construction projects in GSA regions (GSA IDIQ Contract #GS-00P-09-CY-D-0284). IES offers advanced sustainable performance simulation and LEED expertise ensuring architectural elements and engineering systems work effectively together from concept stage onwards to create low energy, sustainable buildings – helping to ensure green design requirements are met throughout all stages of a project.
For all major projects (prospectus-level) receiving design funding in Fiscal Year 2007 and beyond, GSA now requires spatial program BIMs be the minimum requirement for submission to the Office of Chief Architects and for Final Concept approvals by the Public Building Service Commissioner.
“IES was selected to be a part of this team because of our unique, high performance analysis software along with our experienced and well educated internal consulting team,” said Kevin Settlemyre, president of IES North America. “This is an exciting time at IES; we look forward to demonstrating to the GSA as well as our fellow teammates how our BIM and performance analysis related expertise will effectively and efficiently help to bring energy savings to existing buildings and new construction alike.”
GSA's Office of the Chief Architect is currently encouraging, documenting, and evaluating the implementation of BIM technologies to assist energy performance analysis and operational practices on a project-by-project need basis. This new contract is helping a larger audience become more familiar with the overall benefits available to them by implementing BIM tools in green-related projects.
IES’ optimizes the collaborative workflow, putting sustainability right at the center of the discussion. IES has worked in partnership with Autodesk® Revit®, Google SketchUp™ and Graphisoft® ArchiCAD® to develop plug-ins or tight connectivity between these systems, so that models can be translated directly without the need to re-build.
