Rotary/Flames House set to open in November
On Friday, October 2, 2009, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation will host an Open House and "House Warming" Celebration for Rotary/Flames House - the first hospice for children in this province. The facility is only the sixth of its kind in North America and will help families caring for children with progressive and life-threatening illnesses.
Hundreds of families in Alberta will benefit from respite and hospice care provided by Rotary/Flames House. Representatives from the Province of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation will celebrate the completion of this important facility.
Event participants will include:
- the Honourable Ron Liepert, Minister of Alberta Health and Wellness
- Ken Hughes, Alberta Health Services Board Chair
- Jim Truesdale, Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation Board Chair
- Ken King, President and CEO of the Calgary Flames
- a family involved in the design and planning of Rotary/Flames House
