Mississauga’s first Habitat for Humanity home is getting some “neighborly” help through products and services from DuPont Canada.
Glen Roberts, director of Building Innovations for DuPont Canada, attended a fundraising event for the Mississauga Habitat Project in early 2009 and became interested in participating in the project.
“DuPont Canada is extremely proud to support Habitat for Humanity, which has many similar goals as DuPont,” Glen said. “Through our products and services, we strive to help people everywhere to enjoy a safer and healthier life. We are especially pleased to contribute to the construction of this family home in our company’s Canadian headquarters community.”
DuPont products used on the home included DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®, DuPont™ FlexWrap™, DuPont™ StraightFlash™ VF and DuPont™ Tyvek® Tape. DuPont™ Tyvek® Specialists Bruce Kelly and Paul Locke volunteered their time and expertise while providing hands-on instruction to the Castlehill Construction crew who leant a hand with the installation.
The Mississauga home is expected to be completed and ready for the family to move in this fall.
DuPont supports a number of Habitat projects within North America. One notable project was rebuilding the town of Greensburg, Kansas, following a devastating tornado in 2007. DuPont donated more than 30 products and services to help rebuild the town, including funding for two Habitat for Humanity homes.
