SRS Energy, a leading developer of sustainable solar roofing products, has installed the Sole Power Tile(TM) system, the first building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing product designed for curved roofing systems, at Zwahlen's Ice Cream & Chocolate Co., a beloved family-owned and -operated ice cream parlor in Audubon, Pa. Zwahlen's new solar roofing is the first commercial installation of the Sole Power Tile(TM) system for Philadelphia-based SRS Energy.
"The installation is a great example of how time-tested traditions and cutting-edge technology can meet to create something beautiful," said Marty Low, CEO of SRS Energy and owner of Zwahlen's. "The entire family at Zwahlen's is honored and excited to harness clean, sustainable solar energy to produce and serve our ice cream and chocolates."
The product is designed to blend seamlessly with several styles of US Tile's clay tiles, providing energy without the use of traditional solar panels that can compromise a building's roofline and curb appeal. The installation of the Sole Power Tile(TM) system preserves Zwahlen's charming Swiss chalet look.
Zwahlen's will celebrate five years in business on June 20, and is known for creating delicious, high-quality store-made ice cream. Zwahlen's also features chocolate-covered pretzels, hand-dipped truffles, chocolate-coated fruit, caramel apples and more, all created on the premises by expert chocolatiers.
SRS Energy recently introduced the Sole Power Tile(TM) system to the greater Philadelphia region at the PV America show, held at the Pennsylvania Convention center during the week of June 7, 2009. The product is currently being launched in select West Coast markets. For more information, visit www.srsenergy.com or www.zwahlens.com.
