In the "LED - Emotionalize your light" competition of ideas from 8 May until 23 July entrants have the opportunity to create emotional lighting concepts and designs with LED technology and present them to the "light enthusiast" community. An expert jury chooses the best concepts following an interactive selection process. The winners can look forward to cash and non-cash prizes worth €7,000. The competition, which can be followed online at www.LED-emotionalize.com, is supported by lighting manufacturer OSRAM and Siemens AG.
Light-emitting diodes or LED offer countless opportunities to use light creatively in architecture, art, home living or other everyday areas. They are compact, robust and economical so they can be used virtually anywhere. Unlike conventional lamps, they are capable of producing coloured light. Therefore, when it comes to design, the sky's the limit.
Emotional lighting designs should provide spaces with a special atmosphere and have a positive effect on the mood. In addition, the aim of the "LED - Emotionalize your light" contest is to develop lighting solution ideas that are feasible, affordable for users and easy to operate and install. Using a simple online entry form, interested parties can post their concepts online at www.LED-emotionalize.com from 8 May, describe them via application scenarios and extend them with graphic designs or technical execution.
The lighting designs are then accessible to the community while the competition is on. Members can comment on and evaluate other entrants' ideas at the initial selection stage. At stage two, the best judged concepts are developed further. It means interested users, designers and engineers are included in the innovation process, so they can develop consumer-oriented lighting solutions together. After the interactive section, a professional jury of senior staff at OSRAM and selected professionals from the media and design industries choose the winners.
Members of the jury are:
- Christian Schraft, CEO Business Unit Consumer Lighting OSRAM
- Markus Sonnenstatter, Head of Retail Sales OSRAM
