An ultra modern manufacturing facility for Baileys Irish Cream has been established in Mallusk near Belfast. The impressive multi purpose building has made extensive and creative use of Celestia and HPS200 by Corus for both the roof and the walls of the new structure.
The building had to incorporate numerous production facilities including processing areas, bottling lines, packaging and warehouse areas as well as an energy centre, reception and offices. A prefabricated steel portal frame was erected on site and architects, RKD Architects specified metal panel cladding to the exterior envelope.
The north elevation which occupies a prominent position to the M2 motorway was clad with Celestia shade, Sirius in the form of Kingspan Micro Rib flat panel with the remaining elevations clad with Colorcoat® PVDF in Metallic Grey in the form of Tegral Shadowline. For the roof, Tegral Wide Rib 33 twin skin roofing system was applied, finished with HPS200 in Goosewing Grey.
From the outset, the project required a broad, singular design element to maximise the inherent characteristics of the site. It is intended that the curved metallic screens will read as a singular object concentrating the view to the central glazed curtain walling surrounding the main building.
