In order to ensure vinyl siding installers at all levels are equipped with the most up-to-date installation instructions available, the Vinyl Siding Institute, Inc. (VSI) has released an updated version of its Installing Vinyl Siding DVD, as well as a Spanish language version of its recently updated Vinyl Siding Installation Manual.
By updating these resources, VSI is helping to further improve its successful VSI Certified Installer Program, which educates, trains and tests experienced installers on the proper installation techniques for vinyl siding. The manual and how-to DVD - the cornerstones of the program - provide detailed instructions, illustrations and demonstrations based on ASTM D4756, the industry standard for vinyl siding installation.
Since 2005, VSI has verified the knowledge and skills of more than 3,500 Certified Installers and 100 Certified Trainers through the VSI Certified Installer Program. To qualify, candidates must have at least one year of experience installing vinyl siding and accessories. VSI Certified Installers pass a test on proper application techniques and must recertify every three years.
"Whether on new homes or residing projects, many homeowners are benefiting from the attractiveness, durability and sustainability of certified vinyl siding," says VSI President Jery Y. Huntley. "But our products are only as good as their installation. Our enhanced DVD and Spanish language manual will ensure that installers at all levels - from do-it-yourselfers to certified professionals - have the most up-to-date installation instructions and resources available."
The Vinyl Siding Installation Manual and the Spanish language version, Manual de Instalacion de Revestimiento Vinilico, can be downloaded for free from the VSI website at www.vinylsiding.org/publications.
