Basement Technologies enters its 24th year with the launch of Basement Transformation Technologies. Transforming a basement into livable space is a tricky project. It is a common mistake to think it can be done by any carpenter for under $20,000 with conventional building materials not designed to withstand moisture in cave-like basement levels. Conventional lumber, sheetrock and plaster can be damaged easily by water, humidity and condensation promoting the growth of mold and mildew creating possible health risks for your family. Your walls must "breathe". Major considerations regarding humidity, wetness, condensation and dampness in basements must be addressed before the transformation, by using the proper methods.
Basement Transformation Technologies has spent years and expended much energy to develop a quality product and concept that mitigates the high risk factors associated with traditionally finished basements using drywall. The Basement Transformation Technologies wall panel system is manufactured in house to assure our highest quality standards are met. BTT wall panels will not harbor mold or mildew. The breathable characteristic allows moisture to travel through the panel and does not trap moisture behind the panel causing mold to develop. A typical BTT basement can be constructed within one to two weeks and does not create the dust and inconvenience a typical construction project can create.
Many industry professionals fear that fiberglass insulation may become the asbestos of tomorrow. Basement Transformation Technologies® uses insulation that is fiberglass free. Building and medical professionals have determined airborne fiberglass fragments to be a respiratory irritant contributing to more serious health concerns. We have eliminated fiberglass by using a rigid insulation board in the panels.
According to numerous publications and periodicals, basement remodeling is a multi billion dollar industry enjoying double digit growth. As the baby boomer market grows, more homeowners are finishing their basements to provide comfortable accommodations for visiting children with grandchildren or just to gain more useable living space. At the same time, expanding families are looking to add inexpensive living space so the kids have a place to invite friends whiling leaving the rest of the home undisturbed.
