Green Building With Sustainable Retaining Walls

Achieving sustainability in any real estate development project requires the application of green products and integrated design to leverage their synergies. Sustainable development plans often incorporate retaining walls for managing elevations and erosion control on construction sites.

"When retaining walls are required, it makes sense to use an earth-friendly alternative for which up to eight LEED credit points are available," said Paul Forsberg, president of Millenia® Wall Solutions. "Especially if that alternative also meets a project's aesthetic and budget requirements."

Forsberg presents and discusses this idea in his article, "Part of a Greater, Sustainable Whole," published in the September 2008 issue of Sustainable Land Development Today (SLDT). The article includes a complete case study of a residential retaining wall project.

Free reprints of Forsberg's article are available from Millenia Wall Solutions.
