Corus Colors, the UK’s leading manufacturer of pre-coated steels, has been nationally recognised for its commitment to the environment, including the development of new sustainable products, through the Business Commitment to the Environment Award scheme, run by the national environmental charity, Groundwork.
Stephen Timms, Minister for Energy, E-commerce and Postal Services presented the Premier Award for Business Commitment to the Environment to Corus Colors managing director, Jack MacLachlan on 20th April 2004. Jack MacLachlan commented:
“Our approach is to develop products that contain no hazardous substances and can be easily re-cycled at the end of life. A million tonnes of pre-coated steel products are produced by Corus Colors each year and the environmental benefits resulting from our development work in recent years is therefore significant.”
Corus Colors recognises the need to develop products with a low environmental impact in a sustainable manner. All Corus Colors sites in the UK have the environmental standard ISO 14001, and there are two sites of special scientific interest (SSSI) at the Shotton site.
