Connor Sport PortaFloor Kept Under Secrecy Before Being Revealed as Flooring for the Beiijing Olympics Opening Ceremony

Utah-based Connor Sport Court International was spotlighted on the first day of the 2008 Beijing Olympics when it's Sport Court PortaFloor® was used as the special events flooring for the opening ceremonies.

Ron Cerny, president and CEO of Connor Sport Court International (CSCI), said the PortaFloor was purchased by the contractor who built the Beijing Olympic Stadium (the "Bird's Nest") specifically for the opening ceremonies.

"We shipped 100,000 square feet of PortaFloor through our Chinese distributor last March, but due to some of the secrecy surrounding the opening ceremonies, we were never sure until that last moment that it would actually be used," Cerny said. "It's a tribute to how quickly PortaFloor can be installed."

Randy Herrick, product manager for PortaFloor for Sport Court®, said the Portafloor had ultimately been purchased by the Olympic Committee.

The Sport Court PortaFloor is an event floor that can be quickly installed and removed to protect a variety of sport surfaces, including tracks and turfs. Thanks to its unique, patented structure, PortaFloor can be repeatedly assembled and disassembled. It has treads that lock together, to form sheets or long rolls used to protect some of the most famous stadiums throughout the world.

More athletic events are played on Connor Sport Court surfaces than on any other sports flooring in the world. Sport Court® is a registered trade mark of Connor Sport Court International. Since 1974, it has identified the original and authentic modular sport surface, continuously improved and patented to provide the highest levels of quality and performance.
