Decorative concrete has quickly become one of the hottest trends in both residential and nonresidential construction. The latest publication from the Portland Cement Association, Finishing Concrete with Color and Texture, is a basic guide for planning and constructing decorative surfaces on concrete slabs.
Coloured and imprinted concrete is an excellent flooring material combining the economy, durability, decorative qualities, and strength of concrete and the thermal mass needed for passive solar buildings. Moreover, surface treatments are just as pleasing in the interior as they are on the exterior of a home or commercial building.
The second edition of Finishing Concrete with Color and Texture includes a completely new chapter on white concrete and significantly enhanced coverage on staining and painting. Guide specifications assist in developing specifications for decorative concrete projects, and a partial list of manufacturers and service providers is included.
While intended primarily for concrete contractors, Finishing Concrete with Color and Texture also will be useful to concrete finishers and apprentices, homebuilders, general contractors, architects, engineers, landscape architects, homeowners, vocational education students, specification writers, inspectors, among others.
