Owens Corning today introduced the industry's first paper-free all service jacket (ASJ) for fiberglass pipe insulation with the launch of FIBERGLAS(TM) Pipe Insulation with Evolution Paper-Free ASJ. This innovative solution dramatically improves mold prevention in commercial structures by eliminating paper, which can be a mold and mildew food source. This allows building owners, specifiers and contractors to build with more confidence for enhanced indoor air quality. In addition, the new super-strong jacket increases resistance to punctures and tears by more than three times traditional paper based ASJ, which should extend the lifespan and improve the appearance of pipe insulation.
In addition to strengthening prevention of mold and physical/damage protection, the Evolution(TM) Paper-Free ASJ provides the following performance benefits:
- Stain Resistant - defies dirt, grease and common stains, retains "new" appearance longer and reduces the need for job rework;
- Cleanable - easily wiped clean, yet accepts mastic and can be painted for color coding;
- SSL II(R) Positive Closure System - Owens Corning's proprietary system fully seals the ASJ, which eliminates the need for contractors to reinforce the closure with staples and sealer - saving time, overall costs, and preserving the insulation.
"Protecting pipe insulation from mold and mildew food sources is an overwhelming concern for pipe insulation contractors, specifiers and building owners," said Todd Parker, Owens Corning's business manager for pipe and equipment insulation. "We designed this new paper-free ASJ to support the market's need to eliminate mold. With paper-free facing, our pipe insulation system brings together two of the industry's major innovations the first paper-free ASJ for fiberglass pipe insulation combined with our SSL II(R) Positive Closure System, providing an easy to install, long-lasting pipe insulation solution that improves air quality and enhances the health of any building."
