Tyco Showcase Latest Underfloor Heating, Snow Melting and Hot Water Products at Interbuild

Tyco Thermal Controls is at Interbuild 2007 (Stand 03/3A-N36) exhibiting its acclaimed Raychem electric underfloor heating systems and its latest solutions for snow melting applications, hot water services and frost protection in new build or refurbishment projects. These feature the significant energy-savings achievable by employing self-regulating cable technology with intelligent control systems. Visitors will also discover the ‘smart’ support services available to developers, specifiers, contractors and installers.

Underfloor heating
Within the Raychem range of complete electric underfloor heating systems are energy-efficient solutions for all traditional floor surfaces, including wood. The offering encompasses both self-regulating cables systems and power mats. Tyco Thermal Controls supports its underfloor heating systems with ‘smart’ design software, an interactive installer website and its 12 year manufacturer’s triple-warranty.

Snow melting
Raychem electric snow and ice melting systems offer a reliable method of keeping exposed pedestrian and vehicular access areas open and safe during wintry weather. They are significantly more efficient than spreading sand/salt or committing manpower to removing snow after it has been allowed to accumulate and activate only when the ambient conditions are conducive to snowfall or ice formation. Recent new additions to the range have provided energy-efficient solutions for small areas such as pedestrian walkways, paths and steps through to large applications like vehicular ramps, aircraft aprons.

Hot water temperature maintenance
By heat-tracing pipe work to maintain water temperature, the Raychem HWAT system enables instant hot water to be available at every tap from a single pipe system. The system offers significant energy-savings (up to 50%) and installed costs are lower too as it eliminates a need for recirculation plumbing.

Frost protection
A Raychem self-regulating electric heat-tracing system has been developed for frost protection, to prevent exposed cold water feeds and service lines from freezing in severe weather. This complete system comprises self-regulating heating cable, ‘smart’ control units and RayClic fast connections which together deliver significantly lower total installed costs and lower operating costs. There are also systems for roof and gutter snow melting and de-icing to maintain a continuous drain path from the roof through the gutter and down pipe. It prevents icicles forming or snow causing damage to the roof.

Intelligent controls and ‘smart’ tools.
For total system integrity, Raychem systems are offered with intelligent controls capable of integration into building management systems (BMS) and designed to further enhance energy-efficiency. Architects, contractors and installers also have access to a range of ‘smart’ tools to assist in selecting, designing and installing the optimum thermal solution for their application.
