The historic Royal Docks is earmarked for further dramatic change. Under the London Development Agency (LDA) and Gladedale Homes, £100 million is being used for a regeneration project that is transforming Royal Albert Basin into a commercial, residential and leisure haven.
Knight Frank are the selling agents for Royal Quay, a development of luxury apartments and penthouses in the beautiful marina setting of Royal Albert Basin. A variety of one, two and three bedroom apartments are available for sale, all of which exemplify Gladedale’s core principles of superior specification and bespoke design.
Many of London’s docks have been redeveloped for residential use, but unlike many of the vacant docks such as Canary Wharf, Royal Albert Basin has a truly maritime feel; an array of boats are moored and the river is a hive of activity throughout the year and especially in the summer months. The buildings themselves are designed to resemble magnificent ocean liners moored along the quayside, built on the shore and project out majestically over the water. The historic Gallions Hotel is set to become the centrepiece of the scheme, after conversion into a restaurant with paved plaza, health spa and small business centre.
Bradley Martin of Knight Frank comments, “Royal Quay is an exciting development that will transform Royal Albert Basin. It has the benefits of other working marina environments, such as St Katharine’s Dock and Chelsea Harbour, but at a more reasonable price.”
The units are generously sized and each comes with a balcony or terrace, some of which are almost another room in themselves. All units have water views and are excellently equipped with under-floor heating, comfort cooling, flooring throughout and designer kitchen with granite worktops and integrated appliances.
Royal Quay is in an excellent location with superb transport links. Close to City Airport and the A13 which provides access west to Docklands and Central London and east to the M11, M25 and the national motorway network, it also has pedestrian links to the DLR which has a quick and easy service to Tower Hill and Canary Wharf. A rapid transit bus link adjacent to the development is also currently under consideration.
This development would be ideal for a City or Docklands worker with a passion for the water, not least because of its location, ambience and exclusivity.
