Agreement in Construction of New Complex in Tilburg Heijmans and Ballast Nedam have been contracted by the cooperative building society WonenBreburg for the Intermezzo building project in Tilburg. Two new residential blocks are planned for the former site of the Interpolis offices near Tilburg West station. One of the two buildings will have some 130 apartments for sale, as well as a section reserved for office space. The other building will contain over 400 apartments designated for student use. An underground car park will provide 370 parking spaces. The contract price for this project totals over EUR 52 million. Construction works will begin mid-2007. Thermal energy storage (WKO) facilities will be installed in both buildings, ensuring a high level of energy efficiency.
Heijmans will have responsibility for two-thirds of this project, while Ballast Nedam will take on the remaining one-third of construction works. The two blocks will stand on a square, which will also serve as the roof of the parking garage. The lower of the two blocks will be 8-12 storeys in height and the taller block is planned to rise to a maximum of 21 storeys. Plans for the complex also provide for restaurant facilities, service providers and commercial office space. Apartments designated for sale will include a parking space in the underground facility.
The buildings will be situated at the corner of the three streets Prof. Cobbenhagenlaan - Conservatoriumlaan - Prof. Verbernelaan. The university and Tilburg West station are therefore both within walking distance. The one and two-room rental apartments will be let by WonenBreburg. Residences intended for sale, located in the other block, will range from 55 msquared to 115 msquared in surface area. Most of these apartments will fall midway between this range, with a surface area of about 87 msquared. All the residences will have either a French balcony, full balcony or winter garden. All apartments will also be fitted with under-floor heating.
