Free Advice Sessions for Construction Workers

Anyone working in the construction industry can obtain free advice on a range of subjects relating to their work at a free informal drop-in session in Taff's Well being organised by the Working Well Together (South Wales) Group in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The event, which is on between 3.30pm and 6.30pm on Thursday 5th July and Tuesday 17th July at Taff's Well Rugby Club, will include a number of stands offering free and confidential advice to individuals and firms working in construction.

Construction remains one of the most hazardous industries in which to work, HSE Principal Inspector for Construction in Wales, Chantal Nicholls said: "More than two million people work in construction in Britain, which makes it one of the country's biggest industries. It's also one of the most dangerous, with over 2,800 deaths caused each year, as well as considerable more injuries or illnesses.

"We also appreciate the difficulties many individuals or businesses have in obtaining information on the broad range of issues they face, which is why the Working Well Together group in South Wales have put all the information in one place.

There will be information available about Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007, which recently came into force and introduce a number of new duties for employers in terms of health and safety. This session will help those in construction industry obtain clear information on these important changes."

There will also be stands giving advice on tax, legal matters, environmental issues, health, pensions as well as practical advice from people within the industry on issues such as working at height and workplace transport."

There is no need to book in advance, and anyone wishing to attend the event can just turn up at Taff's Well Rugby Club, near Cardiff on the day.
