The staff at Miller Homes are celebrating after chief executive, Tim Hough, was named the most influential developer in the UK housing industry by leading trade publication 'Housebuilder'.
Hough picked up tenth place overall in the poll which was voted for by industry peers and was the highest ranked person from any housebuilding company. The top ten placing was described by the magazine as a testament to his influence and popularity amongst his colleagues.
Hough took over the helm at Miller Homes in August 2002 and deliberately placed customer care at the cornerstone of his growth strategy.
In that time he has helped engineer a number of successes, none bigger than the ambitious £264 million takeover of Fairclough Homes, which catapulted the company, like Hough, into the industry's top ten.
In September last year, Hough was appointed a non executive director for the NHBC (National House Building Council) and became chairman of the NHBC Standards Committee, making a very obvious statement about his passion for quality new homes.
When asked about the achievement, Hough said: "I'm quite overwhelmed to hear that I've been placed in the top ten most influential people in the business. We have achieved some great things in my time at Miller Homes, but that is to the credit of the whole company and all its employees.
"I always feel honoured when asked to be involved in wider industry committees and events and they represent an excellent opportunity to make the Miller voice heard. I'm very proud to have received this kind of recognition. It will act as further inspiration for me to continue to help the housebuilding industry move onwards and upwards."
Miller Homes recently made a new addition to its customer focussed portfolio with the launch of interactive social network, www.mymillerstreet.co.uk, which allows neighbours to get to know each other over the 'virtual garden fence' and learn how to build more sustainable communities.
